Etude House: Face Blur and Big Cover Cushion Concealer Review

Hello hello hello :)
It's Wednesday already, can you believe this?! I can't.
AND
It's ELEVEN days till Christmas... like what?

Anyways, in this post I'll be reviewing two Etude House products - both of which I've used for about 2 months now, so I thought it is the time to share what I think of them!

Left to right: Face Blur & Big Cover Cushion Concealer

Read on to know more :)

First up, Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur.

I remembered I first saw this product in a korean ad on YouTube one day. It pulled me in wanting to know more about the product because it showed that The Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur is supposed to give your skin a perfect finish and instantly make your skin "selfie ready" - there's no better way to market a product like that! So obviously I had huge expectation for it and when Sakura Perth gave me this to try out, my eyes glistened.

Here's a little intro to what it functions as: it sort of acts like a primer and light foundation base aka you can apply either by itself or under/with foundation/BB cream. According to the Etude House website it is a "lightweight cream" with "multi-blurring effects for instantly refined and smooth skin" for a "3-in-1 multi filter effect like adjusting light on skin". It even has a sun protection level of SPF33 PA++ to boot! Sounds great, hey?

So you must be wondering now... how does this differ from all the other primers out there? And does it really cover pores, perfect skin, and so on?

Well you're in luck! I'm just about to explain it all.

Packaging: this is packaged via a pump mechanism, which is my favourite kind of packaging! Through this, it makes the product sanitary, control how much product you dispense and easy to travel with. Plus knowing it's Etude House, the bottle is pretty too! Bonus!

Swatches/feels: It is a lightweight, light-textured cream, and to me it felt watery. The texture is sort of like lotion. When I sniffed on the back of my hand, I noticed a floral scent but it soon dissipates when applied on face. The product also has a light beige and shimmer tint to it. And when blended out, there is minimal coverage. I found out that it does help to even out the skin tone.

Verdict: For me, I found the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur to work quite well as a primer or by itself as a base product. When used all over the face, it does generally help to improve the appearance of my skin, making it look brighter in a subtle way. And while it doesn't fill out every pore(like what Maybelline or Benefit Pore Primer does) in my skin, I felt like it helped to generally lessen how severe they looked by a little. Though I must say, you must use this product wisely and sparingly. When I over-applied, I would get a white cast, similar to the whiteness you get when you apply too much sunscreen. So for more tanned girls, some extra blending work might be required. This has been my go-to-product for work because in the morning, I'm usually rushing and only have five minutes to get my face ready before I rush out the door. For me, it's effectively a base product with moisturizing properties and sun protection, which literally translates to me saving some time in layering products together.

But (there's always a but don't you know reckon?) There is one area that fell a little short in... which is the lasting ability. Because it's supposed to be a face primer, I was expecting it that it will make my makeup last longer however I didn't notice any lasting power in this. I'm sure it helped, but it wasn't anything drastic. However, because it makes my skin look so awesome, I can forgive the fact that it doesn't last forever.

Would I recommend the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur? Yes, if you are looking for a good primer or makeup base product with moisturizing and sun protection benefits. I also like that it has a lightweight feel that doesn't feel heavy or oily on skin, neither does it feel too silicone-y (for a primer product). And it was indeed effective at subtly improving the look of my skin, giving slight coverage to imperfections, and making my pores and skin surface look better overall.

Onto the second product! Big Cover Cushion Concealer SPF 30/PA++ in Peach Pink

This is a colour correcting concealer in a "cushion" applicator. It reminds me exactly of Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer - I love this kind of cushion applicator! Instead of a twisty turn like Maybelline, you just need to click the bottom of the pen and the product is dispersed through the cushion. Fancy!

Packaging: It is pretty, as expected from Etude House. It's so girlish. It comes in different shades, targeting to different problem areas. I got mine in Peach Pink, which aims to cover the dark under eye circles. And you know, this is just perfect for me as I have really really dark under eye circles (especially with all the stress I have been dealing lately)!

Swatches/feels: The cushion itself is so soft. You have to dab it on your under eye area to apply the product. I also find it easy to blend out.

Verdict: It covers and brightens up my dark under eye circles. But as the hours passed by, it tends to get cakey underneath.
One of a slight minor issues I have with this product is its cushion applicator. Over time, it is unhygienic and it seems there is no way for the cushion to be removed/replaced.

concealer slowly seeping out
Would I recommend the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur?  In my opinion, no. I felt like other than brightening your under eye circles, it just doesn't work well over time for me. I still use it till this days to finish it because I hate to waste product. I'd just have to bake it to set it extra long. However, everyone's skin is different! So it may work for you!

Anyways, that is it for today's review! Thought I bundled these 2 products together because they are both Etude House and that I got both together at the same time.

Thanks for reading :)

And as always, stay happy and healthy x

Love,
Melon xoxo
