Mise En Scene Hello Bubble Foam Color 7P Vintage Rose Pink REVIEW

At the end of 2015, I originally did want to change my hair colour, but I didn't have anything specific in mind. After my spontaneous haircut last Wednesday (into a bob), my roots became extra visibly obvious and so I thought here's the time! And suddenly, all these questions of "But what colour? Should I go to salon to get it done?" pop into mind, and as you have seen, I've put the question up on my personal ig and tumblr, and I received so many responses! THANKYOU. I never thought there would be a flood of them :')

So yes, very often, there are 2 main reasons why people go to a salon to get their hair dyed:
- it’s very difficult to get the results you want especially if all that you have to guide you is one mirror in front and a mental picture of the back of your head
- it will get messy and your arms are probably going to be too tired to even pick up stuff or clean up (that was true before the bubble hair dye was invented)

Next day (on Thurs) after much debate, I decided to go to a salon to get it done.
Then few minutes later, I got a notification from Aileen (Perth Fabulous Beauty) to pick up some goodies for review purposes and when I received them, Hello Bubble Foam Hair Dye was the first box that captured my eyes XD *can never resist pretty packaging* And I immediately thought hey, I can try this out and see how it turns out! It's adventurous and fun to use a product without having a general knowledge of the background. Enjoy reading my little adventure below! :)

First impression:

The contents of the box came with: hair colourant (2 packets with a bottle), a nozzle, a pair of gloves, a small pack of conditioner, and even a plastic cape!

I freaked out when I open the pamphlet and saw the instructions are in korean! But don't worry if you cannot read korean at all, the illustrations will guide you through the whole process. The instructions were very fun to look at and were fairly easy too.

The application was fairly easy. You pump the dye straight into your hand and apply. The hair dye did not have a strong chemical smell. It smelled absolutely amazing! Like a coconuty perfumey smell. And I absolutely love the colour too ;)

Pretty cool and innovative idea right to use the cape to cover dyed hair?

When you first apply the product, it doesn't show up on your hair right away. After a few minutes though, my hair looked extremely dark. Nothing like the colour - almost black. I got a bit afraid that I got a colour that was too dark for my liking, because this product is made in Korea and Koreans have naturally black hair.

How long? According to instructions, I think it said 10-20 minutes, but I personally left it on for 40 minutes this time.

Overall:
Whenever I colour my own hair, I know that it's never going to come out looking like the picture on the box.  With that said, I think the colour came out better than I had expected; and that my root is covered. Below are the before and after, under sunlight and indoor lighting photos of my hair. Do keep in mind that my hair before was a faded mocha brown (hard to see in the photo), so the result will never be as pink as it appears on the box.  Lighter hair color will probably achieve a better colour result.
Before VS After

Why I LOVE the formula:
If you have seen my snaps last week, I commented how the solution smells very coconut-like, instead of ammonia, which was a big thumbs up! I can't emphasis enough that I really like the foam formula. It's non-drippy, and extra easy to apply by yourself (this time I really did apply it by myself).

Pros & Cons of bubble hair dye:

Pros -
  • the application is not exactly rocket science which is why most people love and prefer this kind of hair dye
  • all you have to do in mix - which you swirls the bottle side to side for 20 times - pump, and apply
  • ammonia-free which means you do not get the irritating smell that you would experience from other dyes
  • non-drip formula which makes cleanup easy
  • results would depend on what you hair colour is BUT the korean ones work on almost any hair colour, even virgin black hair too
  • doesn't stain your skin!
Cons -
  • expect for your roots to show the colour more vibrantly - the colour will eventually even out after few washes
  • the dye won't completely even out your hair colour even if you've had your roots grown out
  • your hair will feel very dry when you rinse your dyed hair with water - it's then important not to skip on applying the conditioner provided

Hope you have enjoyed reading this :)

And now that I'm taking a break from my full time work, I can do more reviews for y'all! YAYS! *squeals like a little kid* XD

See you all soon x

Love,
Velene xoxo
