Laneige Light Power Essential Skin Refiner Review

Here’s a review of Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner which I made for Absolute Beauty.

I’m quite the sucker for beauty products but not every item is to my liking. But this, however, such a popular Korean skincare brand, has stumbled across my view, and got me faithful! Ever since I've started using this few days ago, I'm already hooked! If you are keen to know the wonder of this product, please read on.

For those who don't know what this brand is, Laneige is a popular facial care and cosmetics brand located in Korea. This brand prides itself in using the science of water to produce their best-selling products. Laneige means “snow” in French and is the result of intense research into hydration technology.

First impression:
The packaging is pretty standard Laneige packaging. Simple yet chic! They’re not made of glass, but plastic, which is really handy as they’re already quite heavy!
The caption on the clear bottle says: “Soothing skin refiner with detoxifying and anti-stress effect for healthy skin.” Well.. doesn't that sound absolutely clarifying and exciting?
It contains mineral water to allow optimum moisture reabsorption.

How do I use this? The toner is a real toner in its sense. Unlike most Korean toners which are thicker and gel-like in texture, this toner is very liquidey, so be careful when you’re pouring it out. I would say that this toner is like it’s name - light and refreshing.

The product's direction is to: dispense appropriate amount (For me, 2 drops) onto a cotton pad after cleaning in the morning and evening and gently apply by wiping lightly, starting from inside and moving towards the outside/edge of the face. Alternatively, in which I prefer more, you can pump 2 drops in the palms of your hands and pat the liquid onto your face - just like a normal toner!

Note: In Asian skincare, the steps go like this (There is around 18 steps!, but I've summarised it to lessen your confusion!)
Cleanse, double cleanse, toner/lotion, serum, essence, moisturiser, eyecream

Overalls, my skin feels so hydrated after use! I felt like my face has become plumper and more radiant lol.
I am actually quite excited to use this as part of my everyday skincare regime and see how and whether it affects my skin in any way in the upcoming months. I will definitely and most likely do an update here a month later to update any progress/es.

Pros~
- super gentle on the skin
- can be applied with a cotton pad or fingertips (you can see the excess dirt on a cotton pad after you clean or exfoliate the skin!)
- no strong fragrance
- lightweight and dewy texture

Cons~
- Packaging: the screw top lid can be annoying sometimes when you are trying to use the product without a cotton pad
- NOT travel friendly - I seriously cannot imagine myself bringing this when I go travelling as the bottle is really big and it may leak during the long flight hours. I would strongly suggest investing in a small travel bottle if you wanted to take this with you!

Would I recommend this? YES! As I received this for free for review purpose, I ended up buying one more for my mummy as a mother's day gift! :D

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!
