Memories in printed squares by Printiki

Why hello there, welcome back to my blog! Yep it has been ages since I've posted anything since my last supposedly-back-to-to-blogging post in October, but that didn't really count (right?) as a post because I've never post anything after it!

With that out of the way, for this month - DECEMBER - can you believe it?
I can't. Last month of 2017. What is this blasphemy? This year is flying too quick!

And so for this month, if you've been following my instagram (https://www.instagram.com/melon_yu/), you would have known that I'm doing VLOGMAS up on my youtube channel, but instead of the typical daily vlog, I'll be rolling it out in a weekly format, the reason being because I work everyday so there is really not much to vlog and put it as a single video (and it would be boring too!). Hence, the weekly vlogmas! The first one will be out this Friday - the 8th of Dec! My youtube channel - It's Melon Yu.

Besides vlogmas and opening my advent calendar in my insta-stories, I of course have to do something on my blog too! And so besides vlogmas rolling out every Friday, blogmas will be out every Monday and Wednesday! Something is coming out on Sunday too... but that'll be release soon closer to date ;)

With that huge chunk of announcements out of the way, back to the purpose of this post - which is why you're here in the first place right? I'm here to introduce - Printiki - an amazing service on the web where you can upload your photos online (from your phone/camera roll, Facebook, Instagram and the list goes on), get them printed and deliver them straight to your door! Amazing? I think so!

Beside having the love for writing, if you can't tell, I too love to take photographs. Of selfies. Food. People. Anything cute. Anything cool. Travel. Actually to think of it, I take photos of anything and everything. And if you were to open my photo album on my phone and computer, the memory data in them is made out of 90% photos.

I supposed this love of photo-taking has gotta came from somewhere, and that is, from my parents. Growing up, my parents would take photos of us in those old-fashioned cameras where they had to go to a camera shop to get the photos to be printed on films etc. The last time I remembered our photos were printed were back when I was in my school days... which was let me tell you, yonks ago!
Now in our generation, with the time and technology growing these days, we all take photos on our phones/cameras - with the help of online storage/memory card, the photos are easily accessible and so it seems to be "normal" to not have physical photos on display! Because (a) when would you ever have time to flick back your photo albums?, (b) it is not always that convenient to go and get photos printed and can cost quite a bit for good quality photos and (c) since photos are ever so easily accessible on our phone and online, we can always edit them and publish/send to any online platforms - which means it will never get lost!

However.

When Bia from Printiki (thank you!) reached out to me and offered to print some of my photos - I immediately jumped at the opportunity of having the feel of having physical photos at hand again (reminiscing back to the childhood days!) and that being said, having a physical touch of the photos is a completely different feel than simply having everything digitally available! Right?

When did you last get photos printed?

most iconic photos that I have to get them printed
I was offered to print 30 photos in prints square M , with captions added onto each photo. The result resembled almost like Polaroids because of the square format with the captions. I really love how that turned out! There are a number of sizes to choose from too - square or rectangular - and various border options.

I really like how there are so many fonts to choose from when adding in the captions. I didn’t know which to choose because I liked how they all looked, but all in all, super easy to customise!

I ended up choosing photos from my LA trip, as I was back from there just few months ago, so it was still fresh in my head of which photos I really want to print - to tell myself in the next few years or so that I've actually been there, and not just my head thinking so - A question for you, do you know the feeling of or feel when you finally been to a "place" you've always seen a lot about (either on TV, books, online etc) when you're younger, that you have formed your own impression and perception of this "place"and when you are actually at the "place", you couldn't believe yourself and even pinching yourself didn't help? This was actually my feelings when I traveled to Los Angeles. It was just like a dream.
And of course, to make sure it wasn't a dream - I knew I had to upload some of the iconic photos I took while I was there, to be printed and jazz up my room - and hence, the title of today's post - memories in printed squares. I can't be more grateful as this reminds me of just my childhood days.

thinking about those happy times I've had already in my life

that one time :')

one of the coolest places I've been with the edgy architectural designs!

With the trendiness of having polaroid photos these days being so aesthetic, I actually do own a Polaroid camera myself, which I did bring with me in this LA trip, however, one not-so-reliable point about having one, is that photos can sometimes be a hit or miss - due to lighting and how one takes it. I almost gave up taking polaroid photos halfway of the trip! And ended up using my phone and camera to do so.
