Elizavecca Green Piggy: Collagen Jella Pack Mask Review

Happy Tuesday to you all lovelies!
It feels like a Monday today, being that I'm back to work, it was really good to have a long weekend!

In today post, I really want to share and rave about this product that I've been using for the 2 past years and I seriously didn't know why I didn't do a review of this product back then, when I did about the carbonated clay mask - you can read more about that here: LINK.
This korean skincare product is made out of pig collagen (50% of its content) and at 50,000 mg of collagen peptide - one of the highest concentration of collagen products around!

A little story about collagen and I:
Collagen is the protein in the epidermis which helps our skin to retain water and increase elasticity. In other words, collagen is key to maintain a youthful looking skin as collagen production slows down after we pass our 20's. To cater for those who want to try and keep their youthful looks aka the majority of all women, many companies have come up with collagen related products like creams, serums, masks and also dietary supplements in powder, liquid and pill forms.

The reason why I have hopped onto the collagen bandwagon 2 years ago, was because I felt that my skin could get very dehydrated. I'm also a firm believer in prevention over cure so back then, I thought to myself, hey I guess it can't hurt right? to get started on maintaining my skin early rather than have to worry about wrinkles later! On top of this, I felt that my skin was already slowing down in collagen production because towards the end of the day, if I had been smiling or laughing, I would get smile lines!

Collagen is good for your skin because it makes your skin supple, prevents ageing and helps reduce wrinkles... which is great for any girl at any age!

A little more about this product and why I'm obsessed with it:

So this product that I'm reviewing in today's post is something that some people may find a little weird because of the ingredients used (like who wouldn't be surprised that it's actually collagen taken from pig's skin?! I sure was!). But this is definitely not just a novelty item. After I had used this pack for a few weeks, I started shamelessly promoting it to anyone and everyone, including my friends and my neighbours too XD

Packaging: As you can see, it's very simple and has a practical packaging design too - there's literally nothing fancy about it, but I like its simplicity. The spatula is very handy as the product itself is so gelatinous it would be kind of a bother (messy and unhygienic) to scoop it out with your fingers to handle it.

Texture: As I mentioned above, the texture is very gelatinous. When you open it, it literally looks like jelly. And are you exciting to hear a fun fact about this product? :D
It's the fact that I can mix this pack up as much as I want and it will revert back to its original smooth consistency (as you can see from the photos - I scooped some out but the texture remains like new as?! haha). This shows that it is really full of collagen since products (not even real jelly) can do this, and collagen is supposed to maintain elasticity which I think means that it can help our skin go back to its original smoothness even after we've been contorting our faces into the expressions we use everyday (e.g. smiling, frowning etc.)

How do I use it? And how would I recommend you to use this to the most efficiency:

After cleansing and toning (plus any other skincare steps before eye cream and/or moisturiser) your face in the morning or night, simply scoop a pea-sized amount with the spatula provided and apply your face. I usually first put the product onto the back of my hand before spreading onto my face.

Even though its a mask pack, there's no need to wash it off  like a sleeping mask. I actually like to put this on under my moisturiser before I put on my BB cream because it helps the BB cream/foundation/powder to 'stick' on better (a bit like a primer).

What I LOVE about this:

  • my skin is more hydrated, looks and feels softer - seriously, it's so soft, like you can feel a bouncy spring-back touch to it
  • one of the cheapest high concentration collagen product around, and only a small amount is needed each time, hence will last you a long time! My first tub lasted me 4 months!
  • it's a product that's free from: mineral oil, paraben, ethanol, animal nature oil, artificial pigment, benzopheone
  • I recommended this to friends around me, and I heard that it's really great for sensitive skin! It doesn't break out sensitive skin or clog it up!
  • very versatile! Can be used as a sleeping pack or a 20 minutes mask.
  • smells great and is lightly fragrance
I can’t think of any cons, which tells you how much I love it and how you should definitely RUN and get it. This is my 3rd jar (and definitely will be re-purchasing more!). The texture feels like soy bean curd (which curdles) when you scoop it up with the spatula (see above picture). It’s quite fun to play with it. It moisturises the skin so well and makes it look so well rested.

It's perfect if you want to give your skin a treat after work/school, because your skin will soak this up like a sponge, bask in its anti-aging/moisturising properties and love you for this!

Hope you enjoy this short review I've posted about this must-have-affordable-collagen product!

Enjoy the rest of the week :)

  1. Nice post. Collagen is good for skin health and it helps a lot for improving skin texture and skin glow. So, start taking natural beauty protein powder daily.
