SASH Cosmetics: Luminous Lipsticks Review
Hello lovely ladies! Since I don't have a valentine, happy valentine's to you all!
It has definitely been many moons ago that I've posted on my blog here, so sorry for my recent absence! Was really busy with work and life. Some of you may have noticed that my instagram account has totally disappeared today - woke up this morning and found out my account was deactivated by instagram, according to them, "I violated one of their terms" and I literally gasped when I saw it. I was like what the hell. What did I do?! I didn't do anything wrong. What's going on. My heart shattered to pieces and literally the whole day at work today, I was constantly stressing with what ifs, what now, all my hard work has flushed down the drain, what should I do etc. I was all over the place, my mind was constantly running trying to think of solution!
Just then, I found an appeal form, followed the instructions and well fingers crossed, I hope I get my account back in one piece!
Anyhow, today, I've got you 6 amazing lipsticks from an Australian-based company that you can buy with your eyes shut! Amazing yea? Read on to know more :)
Recently, I've received an amazing package of luminous lipsticks, kindly gifted from SASH Cosmetics. I was so excited to open and try them out. Oh oh and if you've been following me on instagram, you would have heard my announcement which is..... I'M COMING BACK TO YOUTUBE. Yep, it's official. I've started a youtube channel a year ago, but because back then, I didn't know what kind of a channel I want and what you guys want to see, I ended up doing vlogs, food adventures and makeup tutorials... a mix of random combinations! So I was like hmm it's better to create a new one, based solely on beauty-related videos :)
Check out my (empty) youtube channel: It's Melon Yu feel free to follow :)
And if you are reading this right now, here's a sneak peek ;) my first video will be on this. A first impression and unboxing the packaging - live with you :)
Excited? Yea? Let's move on :)
Have you heard of SASH Cosmetics? Well if you haven't, you are in the right place. It is a fairly new Australian Cosmetics company, their first release being their range of Luminous Lipsticks. Their mission is to basically eliminate the hardships of finding high quality yet affordable cosmetics in Australia. Their lipsticks claim to be of a superior quality yet retail for only $16.95 (!!!).
The Luminous Lipsticks range has got 12 different shades, from nudes to mauves, deep reds and browns. Plus, the formula of these lipsticks is infused with mega moisturisers, which seal the colour and keep the lips soft - using only candelilla wax and microcrystalline wax and and paraben-free! The best part about these lipsticks is that they are cruelty-free too! And let's be honest, isn't this is what everyone switching to nowadays? Switching to cruelty-free cosmetics.
First impression:
When I hear the word “longwear” and “lipstick” in one sentence, my thoughts instantly move towards “drying” and “chapped”. I see them as usually dark, scary colours that highlight all the lines in your lips. But oh boy, SASH changed all of this.
Packaging:
The packaging is really impressive in my opinion! The whole look reminded me of Chanel lipsticks - classy and luxurious - and who would have known these are as affordable and have great qualities!
You can see the shade name at the bottom of the lipstick without opening (so important), and because of how the lipstick was designed to be opened, it really takes some effort to click in and pull apart so there is no chance of the lid falling off in your handbag.
My most favourite part of the packaging is that when the lipsticks are wound down, they fit perfectly into the black surround that holds them, meaning when you take the lid off you have no way of bumping the rim into the lipstick and taking a big messy chunk out (my biggest pet peeve with lipstick).
Swatches (hands and lips!)
I received 6 of the 12 shades available! And I can't agree more how all of the shades that were given complement my skin tone! (mine is warm-toned)
(from top to bottom)
- Attitude - nice deep nude; formula's really creamy!
- Last Dance - rosy brown nude
- Cosmic Rose - rosy pink - such a pretty pink shade! If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I'm obsessed with everything rose! Rose tones really do suit a lot of skin tones.
- Instigator - this is such a pretty colour! Nice and creamy.
- Gypsy Child - Cool tone purple - this has taken me back! When swatched, such a lovely purple
- Light It Up - amazing red! If beauty products could receive lifetime achievement awards, red lipstick would be the ultimate winner! Women have been wearing this classic item for centuries as part of a signature look, to make a makeup statement, or when they're in need of a little pick-me-up. And don't you agree that even if you've owned plenty incredible crimson formulas, you know that there's always room for one more tube in your stash. And this, my dear readers, is definitely worth adding to your rotation.
On my lips -
What do I think after the swatches?
After a week of testing, I have the results and I think my review will tell you everything you need to know about the new breed of luminous lipstick.
These lipsticks, if you can tell, are a matte formula. When I applied each of them, it glide on so smoothly (especially after moisturising my lips!). Matte formulas are mostly drying, but these - nope they weren't. And I suppose the reason why is that its ingredients contain coconut oil and vaseline.
All the shades are incredibly pigmented, even with one swipe!!
And FYI, after swatching them on my hands, it was a struggletown - I had to scrub really hard to wash them off. What I used was: Banila Co. Cleansing Balm (my holy grail!) it only cleaned the top off but the shade was still deeply crafted on my hands then I tried with oil cleansing method and after several tries, they were finally cleaned. What I can say that is that these lipsticks won't budge a cent unless you want them off!
I can get about 8 hours wear with eating and drinking, or much longer if I don’t stuff my face, before I need to touch up. Some of the colours wear better than others, the darker and brighter shades last a little longer for me but even the light nude ones stayed on for 8 hours.
Final verdict:
After trialing majorities for a whole day to see how long they last (as they've claimed to be long wearing and lasting), I'm really impressed to say that they lasted through an entire work day, even after eating lunch. It's definitely worth keeping in your purse: if any member of your girlfriends experiences a red/nude/mauve lip emergency, you'll have this versatile shade on standby.
There is zero transfer of this lipstick when it is set. At application you can remove any mess outside your lip line but once it is dry it doesn’t go anywhere. Not on water glasses, not on cutlery, and best of all … not on teeth!!
It was so hard to narrow down to a favourite hence I came up with two in this instance: cosmic rose and light it up.
I can't emphasise enough that "light it up" is an universally flattering red shade. I wasn't impressed by just how good the lipstick looked, but its quality, too.
Overall, I 100% recommend you to check it out! They are worth checking out and worth the buy too :)
